This is not your typical yoga class and no previous yoga experience is necessary. This series is focused on utilizing the tools of yoga therapeutically tailored to each participant in the group. In this crucial piece of holistic postpartum care the birthing parent will be participating in movements, breathing patterns, discussions, and meditations centered around re-embodiment and re-connection. Participants will cultivate deeper awareness of their bodies, specifically their pelvic floor muscles and abdominals through understanding their postural and breathing patterns, cultivating connection to their bodies in movement, and utilizing breath and yoga postures to both strengthen muscles and release tension. Each class includes an educational component, movement, breathwork, and a home practice to do between classes.
The first class will include some time to complete a short intake questionnaire so that the instructor knows a bit more about each participant's health history and can make sure to meet everyone's needs throughout the series. All collected health information is in compliance with HIPAA.
This class is intended for postpartum clients. Participants are asked to have been cleared for movement by their doctor or midwife prior to attending the series. Participants are invited to bring their babies to this class but please note that this class is not a baby and me yoga class - this series is focused on you!
This four week session will meet on Mondays Sept 30 - Oct 21 at The Well in Mount Pleasant from 6:00 - 7:15pm. Cost is $100
